Here are some recent updates I posted today:
Zach Britton
RotoWire Headline:
Britton tossed three shutout innings against Yankees starters in Monday's spring training game, allowing two hits, walking one and striking out one.
Recommendation:
Britton drew raves from manager Buck Showalter, according to MASN Sports. "I want to see how they're going to handle each step, and this is another part of it," Showalter said. "He pitched in Bowie and Norfolk, and now he's pitching in a big league game in spring training. It's part of the process. Instead of keeping him from that, I want to expose him to it and see how they're going to handle it. I thought Zach handled it well tonight." This could be a big step forward in a bid to make the rotation out of spring training, but it is still like the Orioles want to limit him to a June promotion because of the arbitration clock.
Jeremy Accardo
RotoWire Headline:
Accardo has gone four scoreless innings with the Orioles this spring, including two shutout innings in relief on Monday.
Receommendation:
He was stretched out to throw the two innings, according to MASN Sports. Manager Buck Showalter wants Accardo to be able to go more than one inning when necessary, a strong indication that he fits more of a middle relief profile.
Kevin Gregg
RotoWire Headline:
Gregg pitched a 1-2-3 inning in Monday's spring training tie against the Yankees.
Recommendation:
Gregg seems like the easy choice to close, losing most of his competition when Koji Uehara was shelved almost a week ago. Gregg has thrown three shutout innings with three strikeouts this spring.
Chris Tillman
RotoWire Headline:
Tillman allowed three runs in three innings against the Red Sox in Monday's Grapefruit League game.
Recommendation:
Tillman allowed all three runs in the first inning, but settled down from there. He is not doing himself any favors in trying to win a rotation spot. Zach Britton three three shutout innings in the other split squad game and if he continues to pitch this well he may make the team out of camp instead of Tillman.
